Jorge Poza (Tulancingo, June 26, 1977) is a Mexican television and film actor and TV host.
Biography[]
Poza was born on June 26, 1977 in Tulancingo, Hidalgo, Mexico. He started his acting career in the movie 'Bandidos' in 1990, but his career as a TV actor started in 1992 in the telenovela 'El abuelo y yo' by Pedro Damian along with Gael García Bernal. Then he got involved in other projects of more or less success.
In 2001 he worked in the telenovela 'Atrévete a olvidarme', which only lasted a month on air, but a couple of months later he was called by the TV producer Carla Estrada who offered him a role in her new telenovela 'El manantial'. In 2002 he was called by another TV producer Pedro Damián and was offered his first starring role as professor Francisco Romero in the famous teen telenovela 'Clase 406'.
'Velo de novia' in 2003 represented a new challenge for him, since he had to play two characters: twins Rafael and Ernesto, the first one bad and dominant and the other one good and shy. He also worked in theatre in the play 'P.D. tu gato ha muerto' along with Otto Sirgo. Trying to get away from acting for a while, he started hosting Televisa's morning show 'Hoy'.
He returned to telenovelas in 2008 in a family drama 'Alma de hierro'. Later on, he accepted the lead role in 'Rafaela' which was critically panned by critics and viewers. In 2012, Jorge made his first main antagonist role in 'Cachito de cielo'. He acted along Maite Perroni (the star of 'Cachito') two years later in another Nathalie Lartilleux telenovela 'La gata'.
Jorge Poza was married to actress Mayrín Villanueva, whom he met while filming the telenovela 'Preciosa', from 1997 to 2008. They have two children, twins Romina and Sebastián who were born in August 2003. He is also the younger brother of Mexican television host Javier Poza.
He is a motorcycle enthusiast.
