"No rancho fundo" is a Brazilian telenovela for written by Mario Teixeira for Rede Globo. It's an original story and it started airing on April 15, 2024.
Synopsis[]
On the bank of the stream, near the simple house without electricity or running water, like so many others in the interior of Brazil, Quinota, a girl from Lasca Fogo, a fictional town in the backlands of Cariri, daydreams about meeting Marcelo, her great love. While Quinota was born and raised among chickens, Marcelo lived in Lapão da Beirada, a large city close to the region. The boy only appears in the backlands when the subject is work and involves the precious deposits of Paraíba tourmaline stones. Two distinct universes that, even today, are characterized by socioeconomic contrast, where regional culture and traditions play a fundamental role in the identity of the population. One day, finally, the long-awaited meeting happens and sets the girl's heart on fire once and for all. Seduced, she gives herself to Marcelo. Amidst the enchantment and the act of Zefa Leonel, the young woman's mother, a forced marriage arises between the two. After all, in a city like Lasca Fogo, where a family's honor speaks louder than the romances of modern times, Quinota's reputation would be ruined without the official union. The confusion begins the contemporary romantic comedy that narrates the trajectory of Quinota and her family amidst the difficulties of the sertão, exploring the region's cultural and social shock with the metropolis.
Quinota is the type of a girl who believes in love at first sight, even though she goes through a great disappointment: despite committing to the union, Marcelo doesn't want anything to do with marriage, abandons his fiancée and runs away to the big city. Faced with such an affront, Zefa Leonel takes her daughter and, together, they go in search of the man in Lapão da Beirada, where they come across an environment totally different from what they are used to, a modern scenario full of information, contrasting with the rural environment. and without infrastructure in which they live. And like in a good romantic comedy, meetings and disagreements, scams and farces, big revelations and twists completely change the Leonel's course. In Lapão da Beirada, Quinota experiences love again, this time with Artur, the true good guy in the story.
