"O rico e Lázaro" is a Brazilian religious telenovela produced by Casablanca for RecordTV. The show is written by Paula Richard. The telenovela started airing on March 13 and concluded on November 20, 2017. It's an original story and the main stars are Milena Toscano, Igor Rickli and Dudu Azevedo.
Synopsis[]
600 years A.C. After the reign of several kings who have turned away from God, Jerusalem is plunged into idolatry. People of God are about to lose everything that Moises and Joseph have conquered. Babylon imposes its power over the entire region of Mesopotamia. After defeating the Egyptians, King Nabucodonosor II takes over the throne of the vast empire. During his reign, he transformed the city into a jewel of the ancient world, building for his wife, Queen Amitis, the legendary Hanging Gardens of Babylon.
Zac and Asher are born Hebrews with the same opportunities. Their great friendship is shaken by the love they feel for their childhood friend, the beautiful Joana. Unlike the boys, Joana believes in the prophecies of Jeremias and strives for the Hewbrew people to turn to God again.
King Nabucodonosor II invades Jerusalem, destroys Solomon's Temple and enslaves thousands of Hebrews, initiating the Babylonian Captivity, which lasted for seventy years. Zac and Asher are among the captives and they see their world being destroyed. Stricken by separations, encounters and disagreements, their trajectories will be marked by jealousy, guilt, hurt, danges, revenge, struggles, sacrifices and above all, intense dispute for Joana's love that will shake their strong friendship.

- Although Fernando Pavão and Giselle Itié were initially reserved for the roles of Amitis and Nabucodonosor, they were later transferred to other Record telenovelas, 'Belaventura' and 'Apocalipse'. Adriana Garambone and Heitor Martinez inherited their roles.
