"O tempo não para" is a Brazilian telenovela written by Mario Teixeira for Rede Globo. It's an original story and it started airing on July 31, 2018. The main stars are Juliana Paiva and Nicolas Prattes.

Synopsis[]

The story begins in 1886 and features the Sabino Machado family, who live in São Paulo and own several lands for the exploration of gold, as well as investments in telephone industry. All embark on one of the safest ships of that time, the Albatross, bound for Europe. Dom Sabino plans to visit the shipyard he bought in England and keep his daughter Marocas away from the city's talk after she abandoned a wedding at the altar. The trip has a detour route for a brief visit to Patagonia, when the ship collides with an iceberg.

The ship is shipwrecked and, due to the low temperature of the water, most of the passengers end up freezing. There are thirteen people on board: the Sabino Machado family, composed by Dom Sabino, Dona Agustina, Marocas and the twins Nico and Kiki, besides slaves Damásia, Cairu, Cesária, Menelau and Cecílio, book-keeper Teófilo, teacher Miss Celine, young Bento and the dog Pirate.

132 years later, a large block of ice approaches the Guarujá beach in São Paulo. Samuca, a businessman involved in social causes, owner of the SamVita holding and the Vita Foundation, that focuses on recycling, is surfing and is the first to see the block. Soon, he is fascinated by the frozen face of Marocas. A fissure threatens to break the block and Samuca, in a reaction to save Marocas, clings to the block she is in and they are drawn by the current to the bottom and arrive at the fictional Red Island. The other frozen ones are taken to Criotec, a laboratory specialized in cryogenics . The arrival of the iceberg soon generates curiosity and national commotion and, gradually, each of the frozen ones will wake up in its way, where they will have to face the new contemporary reality.
